10 Best Places to Visit in Florida
If you're looking for a vacation, Florida should be on your list. It's a state that has something for everyone, from tropical beaches to historic cities.
But where is the best place to visit? I've narrowed down my favorite spots in Florida so that you can make better decisions about where to go next year!
The Florida Keys
The Florida Keys are the southernmost part of the continental United States and a chain of islands extending from the mainland to the Gulf of Mexico.
The area is home to many unique wildlife species, including manatees and dolphins. The island chain has been designated as a National Marine Sanctuary since 1972, which means it has been protected both federally and by state law.
The Florida Keys are also popular tourist destinations; they offer visitors a wide variety of activities ranging from fishing and kayaking to scuba diving or snorkeling at some offshore reefs.
Orlando
Orlando is America's most visited destination and home to Walt Disney World Resort. It's also known for being a great place to visit with kids.
The theme parks in Orlando have plenty of rides, shows and attractions that will appeal to all ages. If you like roller coasters or water parks, SeaWorld & Universal Studios are great choices for you!
St. Augustine
St. Augustine is a historic city that’s known for its architecture, food and beaches. The city was first settled by the Spanish in 1565 and became an important port during their reign over the area. It remained under Spanish control until 1763 when it became part of Florida after being colonized by Great Britain at that time.
St Augustine has plenty of things to do if you want some entertainment while visiting this amazing city! Here are just some of them:
- The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is one of the oldest castles in America built by Spanish conquistadors who came here looking for gold but instead found out about native peoples who lived peacefully together without any problems whatsoever."
Everglades National Park
The Everglades is a vast river of grass and water that stretches across Florida. It's the largest subtropical wilderness east of the Mississippi River and one of the most unique ecosystems in North America.
The park was established in 1947, making it one of America's oldest national parks. It covers just over 1 million acres (4109 sq km), but you'll want to spend at least a couple days exploring this incredible place if you can swing it—it takes hours to get through all four sections!
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are the two parks that make up Universal Orlando, and they're both great for families.
If you have young children who love roller coasters and don't mind being on their feet for hours at a time, then this is your park.
If you're looking for something more adult-oriented, Islands of Adventure might be more up your alley. It has many rides that are designed specifically for thrill seekers; however, there are still plenty of family attractions as well (with even more fun shows!).
Both parks have gift shops where you can buy souvenirs or grab some snacks to bring home with you (or just eat while watching a show).
SeaWorld Orlando
SeaWorld Orlando is a marine park, animal theme park and zoological institution located in Orlando, Florida. It was founded in 1964 by four graduates of UCLA: Robert Penner, William Nellis, David Duffield and John J. Lohn Jr.,
who were inspired by the success of their former employer Walt Disney World Resort. The company's first park was Marine World Africa USA (now Discovery Cove), which opened on April 10th 1971 with a capacity for 1 million visitors per year.
In 2017 it announced plans to build a third theme park attraction adjacent to its existing two sites: Blue Origin LLC has signed an agreement with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Inc., allowing them to develop an "innovative entertainment concept" at the location while also utilizing SeaWorld’s operational expertise when it comes to maintaining its facilities
Tampa Bay and Clearwater
Tampa Bay and Clearwater are two of the most popular cities in Florida. They are located on the west coast of Florida, which makes them an ideal place to visit if you're looking for beaches and warm weather.
The Tampa Bay area has many attractions that can be enjoyed by visitors who want to explore its many attractions:
- Clearwater Beach
- St Petersburg's Historic District
- Largo Historical Society Museum
- Channelside District
- Busch Gardens/SeaWorld Parks & Resorts
Miami and South Beach
Miami is a vibrant city with a great nightlife. South Beach is known for its beaches, art deco architecture and nightlife. Here are some of the best places to visit in Florida:
- Miami Beach: This beachfront neighborhood has more than two miles of sand and surf on which you can relax or play volleyball at one of its many outdoor courts. It's also home to several popular hotels like The Fontainebleau Hilton Beach Resort & Spa (pictured above) that offer everything from swimming pools to conference centers; some even have spas!
- Wynwood Art District: This artsy area contains galleries featuring local artists' work as well as live entertainment venues such as LIV Nightclub where you can enjoy DJs performing until late into the night – perfect if you're looking for something fun after exploring this part of town all day long! You'll find plenty of affordable restaurants nearby too so make sure not miss out on any opportunities while here!"
Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando
Disney World is a great place to visit if you're looking for a fun-filled vacation. The theme parks, shopping and dining options, and entertainment are second to none. But there are so many things that you can do in Orlando besides this one park!
The Magic Kingdom is the most popular of all the Disney parks because it has been around longer than any other one (it opened in 1971). But don't discount Epcot, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom either; they're just as amazing as any other part of Walt Disney World Resort!
Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach & Amelia City, Flordia
Amelia Island is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Florida. It's home to many historical sites, including Fort Clinch State Park and the Amelia Island Light House. Amelia Island also has plenty of activities for families, couples, and solo travelers—all while enjoying some of the best weather in Florida!
If you're looking for history buffs who want to see what life was like before electricity was invented (or if they're just interested in learning more about why it was invented), then this is definitely a place worth visiting!
There's more to do in Florida than just Disney World.
If you're looking for an adventure that's not just Disney World, Florida has plenty of options. There are many places to visit in the state, and they all have different things to offer. There are also tons of activities and events that happen during the year.
If you want more than just a day at the theme park, here are some other things you can do:
- Visit Kennedy Space Center (an attraction with tours and exhibits)
- Take a tour through Everglades National Park (one of America's largest national parks)
- Go on an eco-tour through mangrove forests in Everglades National Park (this includes kayaking)
Enjoy an afternoon tea at one of these historic homes:
Plantation House Museum - Plantation House Museum is located within the city limits of St Augustine; it was founded by Spanish settlers who built their homes using shipbuilding techniques imported from Europe! You'll see how they live today with replicas created using authentic materials such as wood or stone tiles imported directly from Spain itself! It also shows off some original artwork done by artists like Pablo Picasso himself back when he lived here before moving abroad again later on down south where he met his death while painting under Claude Monet's guidance while still living there too ;)
Conclusion
Florida is a great place to visit. There's so much to see and do there, and it's easy to get around.
If you're planning on going there this summer, take advantage of all the benefits Florida has to offer, including warm weather and endless beaches!
