10 Best Places to Visit in Poland
Poland is a beautiful country with lots to see and do. It's also one of the most affordable countries in Europe, making it an even better place to visit.
Here are my top 10 picks for places to visit when you're traveling through Poland:
Krakow
Krakow is one of the oldest cities in Poland and it has a rich history. It was also the capital of Poland for over 500 years, which makes it one of the most important places to visit in this country.
The city is filled with beautiful architecture and monuments that have survived since medieval times. You can visit many museums or take a stroll through its streets, enjoying what Krakow has to offer today.
Krakow has many things to do during your stay there such as visiting castles, museums or just taking some time off from sightseeing so you can relax at one of its parks or lakeside areas which include picturesque views of mountains surrounding them on all sides!
Gdansk
Gdansk is the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and is located on the southern shore of the Baltic Sea. It was founded in 1257 by Władysław I Herman, Duke of Pomerania.
Gdansk has a long history as a major seaport, having been burned down in 1656 during an invasion by Sweden, but it was rebuilt after that event. In World War II over 70% of its buildings were destroyed by Allied bombing raids; however most were rebuilt after 1945 (with some exceptions).
Malbork Castle
Malbork Castle is a beautiful castle in the city of Malbork, Poland. It was built by the Teutonic Knights and is one of the largest castles in the world.
The castle was originally built in 1255 on a hillside overlooking a small river called "Malbork", which flows through it today. The original fortress consisted only of two towers and an outer wall surrounding an inner courtyard with buildings inside them such as stables or living quarters for soldiers who worked at this location during its heyday as part of their duties protecting Poland from foreign invaders like crusaders from Germany who came to attack countries near theirs but never actually got anywhere near attacking them because there weren't any people living there yet!
Masurian Lake District
The Masurian Lake District is a beautiful area of lakes and forests. It's great for hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking and swimming. You can also enjoy sailing or skiing in this area. There are many towns and cities nearby that you can visit if you want to go out to eat or shop.
Wroclaw
Wroclaw is the capital of Lower Silesia in Poland. It's also one of the largest cities in Poland, with a population over 600,000 people. The city is located at an important point on the Oder River and has been inhabited since prehistoric times.
Wroclaw was first mentioned as a town in 1223 by King Henry III (1216-1275) during his conquest campaign through Silesia. The city became part of Germany after World War I but returned to Polish control after World War II when it was incorporated into Poland's newly created People's Republic.
Today you'll find many attractions within walking distance from each other; here are some highlights:
Auschwitz
Auschwitz is a former Nazi concentration camp located in southern Poland, about 40 km (25 mi) west of Krakow. It was the largest of the German Nazi concentration camps on Polish soil during World War II.
Auschwitz I was completed in 1940 and served as a prison for Polish political prisoners before being used for mass executions.
The first extermination center opened at Auschwitz I in September 1941 and it became operational in 1942 when about 381 inmates were murdered there by gassing or shooting with exhaust fumes from truck engines that pumped carbon monoxide into their sealed cells (gas chambers).
Torun
Torun is a city in northern Poland with a population of about 72,000. Torun was the capital of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1569 to 1611.
It's also known as "the city of 100 towers" because it has so many historic buildings and landmarks that are worth seeing on your trip to Torun!
Tatra Mountains National Park
Tatra Mountains National Park is located in south-western Poland, and it's home to some of the country's highest peaks. The park is divided into two parts: Slovak and Polish. The Slovak part includes Babia Góra, which has been called "the most beautiful mountain in Europe."
The Tatra Mountains are also called Tatras because they look like a set of small hills when viewed from afar. They were named after the first people who settled here—the Tatras are their descendants today!
Tatra National Park covers over 100,000 hectares (250,000 acres). It contains more than 1000 plant species and 700 animal species including bears, wolves and lynxes.
Lublin
It's no secret that Poland is a beautiful country. With plenty of natural beauty and a rich history, it's easy to see why many people have fallen in love with this part of Europe. But some places are even more special than others—and one such place is Lublin (pronounced: LOO-BLIN).
Lublin is located in eastern Poland, and it's known for being one of the largest cities in this region.
There are numerous historic buildings and monuments here that tell us about Lublin's rich history as an important center for trade routes through Russia during medieval times; as well as its role as an important religious center during early modern times when Jews were welcome there without prejudice towards their religion or appearance.
The city has also been home to many different cultures since its founding centuries ago; this multiculturalism can still be seen today when you visit any restaurant or bar!
The city also offers something else: tolerance! Since 1590 when King Stefan Batory granted religious freedom after decades under communist rule, no other European city has been so open-minded about tolerance between different religions - except perhaps Prague itself which began welcoming Jews back into town after World War II ended
The Salt Mines of Wieliczka
Wieliczka Salt Mine is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination. The mine is located in the town of Wieliczka, south of Krakow, where it has been operating since at least the 13th century.
The mine's purpose was to provide salt for trade and cooking; today it's known as one of Europe's oldest underground sites (second only to Erzgebirge).
You can tour this incredible underground labyrinth by taking an elevator down into its depths via a series of intricate tunnels that are lit by candles or electric lights during night tours (or even just during summer months).
Best places to visit in Poland
Krakow
Krakow is one of the best places to visit in Poland. It's a beautiful city with a rich history, and there are plenty of things to do here if you want to explore its beauty. The Old Town is full of Medieval buildings and cobblestone streets that wind their way through the city center.
There are also many museums and historical monuments for tourists to see as well as lots of churches which have been built over hundreds or even thousands years ago!
The reason why this city is so popular among travelers from all over Europe is because it's one of the most beautiful cities in Europe; it has been featured on numerous TV shows like “Game Of Thrones” (season 6 episode 1), “House M season 2 episode 8″and more recently "Better Call Saul" season 3 episode 5."
