Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park is the oldest national park in the United States, and it's located in the central part of Colorado, about 6 miles from Estes Park. The park covers an area of 415 square miles—which makes it one of the largest parks in America.

The park features more than 300 miles of hiking trails; you can hike to a variety of peaks, including 14,259-foot Longs Peak (the highest point on this list), or follow along paths that lead to waterfalls like Cascade Falls or Longs Peak Lookout Tower.

You'll also find plenty of wildlife throughout your visit! One highlight is seeing bears roaming around their natural habitat at night; they're quite common here!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is located in Colorado Springs, and it's open year round. The zoo has a butterfly exhibit, children's zoo, petting zoo and carousel—but what makes this place truly unique is its train ride!

The Garden of the Gods has over 300 red sandstone formations that were formed over thousands of years by mineral-rich water rushing through cracks and crevices in these rocks after they were deposited on top of them by glaciers during ice ages dating back to at least 12 million years ago (the last glacial period). The formations are so distinctive that they have earned this place its own nickname: “Garden”!
